medicines took in Glengormley
8 April 2011
Large quantities of unlicensed medications have been taken by Department of Health officials during a search of a home in Glengormley.
A male was talked to by department officers about illegally importing and consequently supplying unlicensed impotence medications through the internet.
The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offenses.
He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.
Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, said: "It is essential that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medicines can be hazardous.
"These types of items being sold, normally online, have actually gone through no quality assurance and there can be no guarantee about their security.
"You merely do not know what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More notably, you do not understand the result drugs like this might have on your health."
